Xiao-Hong Sun, Ph.D. is a full member at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) and holds the Lew and Myra Ward Chair for Biomedical Research. Her research concerns the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of immune cells. She is well recognized in her field and served on a number of study sections and scientific advisory boards.
She was a student in the first class of CUSBEA and entered Cornell University in 1982, where she studied for her Ph.D. under the tutelage of Dr. Ray Wu. At Dr. Wu’s recommendation, she carried out her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. David Baltimore, a Nobel laureate, at the Whitehead Institute of Biomedical Research. In 1991, she began her independent career at New York University School of Medicine and was later recruited to OMRF.
After Dr. Ray Wu’s passing in 2008, she and other CUSBEA students funded the Ray Wu Memorial Fund (RWMF). She has been the president of this organization. She is also a life-member of the Society of Chinese Biologists in America (SCBA) and Chinese Biological Investigator Society (CBIS, formerly Ray Wu Society).
